Tripvines

Sometimes called "snaggers," Tripvines have found a unique and annoying way to spread their seeds to new locations. Resembling an ordinary vine found in any forest, the Tripvine reacts when it senses body heat, wrapping around the leg or nearest appendage of a passing creature. Though its grip is not strong enough to cause harm to any but very small animals, getting free from its grasp requires either cutting the vine or ripping it out of the earth entirely, either of which ensure that the passing creature is coated with the small, hook-like spores that serve as the plant's seeds.
Tripvines are loathed as few other plants by civilized societies, as they constantly annoy travelers and can even be dangerous to someone running full stop or someone too weak to break or cut themselves free. More than one parent has called for their child to come to supper, only to have to track the sound of their complaints to a thicket where a Tripvine holds them fast.
While most towns are quite militant about killing tripvines inside the actual borders of the settlement, the extreme irritation the plants present means that they're typically left alone in the wild. Some towns assign community service to petty crooks by having them gather and burn Tripvines in the surrounding forest, but unless care is taken, the would-be gardeners risk spreading as many new plants as they manage to kill.
