Evergrace Weather Mage
Evergrace prides itself on being the peak of art, culture and civilization. At some point, it was decided that even the weather above Evergrace ought to be beautiful, and a small group of wizards with the government's support began carefully regulating the weather and climate conditions and even fashioning cloud sculptures and other decorative effects.
As a weather mage, you specialize in affecting the atmosphere with magic, and the same spells that opened the clouds for an afternoon of sun can bring lightning down upon your enemies.

Career Progression
Weather mages begin as apprentices creating small, localized phenomena with the aid of magic items, typically in villages a short distance from Evergrace where they can't foul up the work of their superiors if they make a mistake. Once they master basic control, they might assist a village for a short time while developing their craft, eventually making their way onto the teams that manage weather for the capital. Different mages are given charge on different days, with only the most senior working on holidays and celebrations, and an especially good performance can see the mage slowly work up the ranks. A disaster, however, can just as quickly make a weather mage an embarrassment, and adventuring is one path open to a disgraced weather mage who's no longer wanted at home.
Other Benefits
Weather mages are accorded a certain respect as public artists and public servants. A sizeable minority of the Evergrace population watches the weather and keeps track of who's responsible for which days, leading to many arguments over drinks over which up and coming young spellcaster has the most talent and potential. Skilled mages may even develop something of a fan base, and a few of the senior mages enjoy a kind of celebrity lifestyle as they compete to outdo each other with feats of cloudshaping.
