Vacuous Explorers Society
Chairperson Tahil just announced that the Society will name the Vacuous Ocean continent after whoever sponsors the ship that discovers it. It's all quite exciting. I think Belmoretoria has a nice ring to it, don't you?
The Vacuous Explorers Society is an organization dedicated to searching for a lost continent that they believe exists in the Vacuous Ocean. The Society headquarters are located in the Jirithkaen city of Summertide, and members hail from some of the wealthiest families in the empire.
After the historic discovery of Anithtoria only a few decades ago, many wonder about what next undiscovered land could be waiting just beyond the horizon. Although many fantasize about being the one to discover the next continent, only a few have enough silver to burn on such an enormous venture.
The Society has sponsored a few voyages to the eastern ocean, but so far none of them have been successful. Almost all of the ships have been sunk by storms or were forced to return to the mainland after running low on supplies.
It is obvious that the Vacuous Continent exists. That enormous empty area of the map just looks wrong.
Nevertheless, hope remains strong among members.
The Vacuous Society has developed an expansive charter detailing resource shareholders, colony names, and future Society plans for the as yet undiscovered new world.
The Society holds monthly meetings to discuss new voyages and update the charter with new ideas.
It's quite the fitting name really considering their results over the last fifty years.
