Legoria
After Dragon Wars
Legoria is a world that has been riddled with dark and dangerous magic since the beginning. No one knows of The Beginning because for us it all began with The Torrent. The cause of The Torrent is unknown, but the effect will live on even longer than this world- The planes exist within a much thinner veil, magic is rampant and runs foul, and magical creatures are gifted in strength. This event warped the strongest beings across all the planes of existence: celestials, demons, devils, archfey, and dragons. All that we know of our world exists after The Torrent and under the reign of the dragons.
Dragons took their footing at the top of the food chain in the very beginning; while some ruled with a just kindness many did not. Clear divisions between good and evil were defined early on as these dragons waged wars in their struggle for power. These beings existed in godlike capacities, bowing to no one and ruling as they saw fit. While the dragons who claimed to fight the good fight ruled with sincerity and honor, the darker denizens ruled with fear and hatred.
Due to the large mass of land that one dragon could claim Legoria became divided. Government politics directly reflected the moral standing of the overseeing dragon, and the political wars in suit were a perfect representation of their lords moral compass. When not in war large sections of the world self segregated, believing their cause to be the only just cause. Parts of the world thrived while others withered because of this divide, and the ruling dragons rarely even noticed. Many dying civilizations became religious zealots as it became apparent their deities had forsaken them, turning to twisted and maddening magics. The zealots worshipped their dragon lords as gods, and gods they were. Many lifetimes had passed before they began to fall. Their magic began to run foul and the dragons turned against one another.
After nearly a century only a few dragons remained in the world largely unharmed, it seemed as though the purity of their magic was strong enough to stand the test of time. Many of the civilizations that once beckoned every waking call of a dragon now considered dragons a mere childrens tale. Although, not all of the world had forgotten- the scars left behind would take far longer to heal. And while the world had largely moved on, a few dragons continued to prowl their territory making sure Legoria still tremored under their weight.
