Thrinese

Writing System

Thrinese has two written variants: a quick shorthand where each letter is a single stroke, and a longer cursive-like form that was designed for long-term readability and preservation. Every sound in the Thrinese language has its own letter, resulting in around in their alphabet being around 100 letters long.

Syntax

Gender and Species Binary:

Because of the dual nature of Thrinar, binary divisions are very important in their language. As such, Thrinese language uses a binary that runs similar to the male/female binary of gendered Earth languages, and the vocabulary is marked with the male/female binary. The binary is actually Cannid/Callon, or Magician/Mathematician

Pronouns:

Although reflexive pronouns are included in the vocabulary examples for completeness, Thrinese does not have reflexive pronouns. Similarly, gender neutral pronouns are used both for sentients that do not fall within the Thrinese binary, and for non-sentients. This is not derogatory (in the way that using 'it' pronouns for a sentient in English can be derogatory) because the Thrinese recognize that everything has a significance and a unique awareness.

Possesive Pronouns:

Possessive pronouns are appended to the front of the word they apply to, ergo "my world" would be il’wal. Thrinese does not have standalone possessive pronouns.
