Mt. Theos

The capital of Midor, and the only source of the legendary material, Theosite. To see the forges of Mt. Theos, and hear the pounding hammers is to almost enter another realm. A realm of fire, and glory.

Demographics

The population of Midor consists of around seventy thousand dwarves, and about thirty thousand munren. About sixty percent of the populace are black smiths, or some other job involving the use, or processing of theosite. Since this is the center of Midor's wealth, most of the populace of the city within the volcano is quite wealthy.

Government

This is the capital of the dwarven nation Midor, and as such, it is ruled by Midor's dwarven king.

Defences

The mountain itself serves as one of its strongest defenses. The exterior of the mountain itself is riddled with hidden ballista turrets, ready to open fire on an invasion from any angle.

Industry & Trade

There is one industry that drives the economy for all of Midor. Theosite processing, and selling is what gave Midor its incredible wealth.

Infrastructure

A sort of funnel towards the top of the mountain vents the heat from within the city, to the snowy summit. This causes the snow to melt, and gravity brings down the water accordingly. This system is used in all of Midor's mountains. The snow at the top of the mountain is deep enough so when it melts, it creates enough drinking water to give the entire population. Forges fill the city's massive halls, and the pound of hammers fill the air.

Districts

The city is consisted of four layers, from the summit of the mountain, to the treasure hoard beneath. The top layer, is the water filtration, and treatment district. This is where the heat vents are located, and where the freshly melted water flows. They then boil the water, and catch the vapor so it can flow back down. The water is then gravity-fed to the rest of the city. The layer below that one, is the residential area. It is closest to the water-treatment sector, and therefore receives the freshest water. Below the residential area is the forges. This is where the theosite is gathered, poured, and forged into the weapons, and armor that give Midor its fame. The bottom layer is the massive treasure hoard, that spans the entire underside of the city.

Assets

All of Midor's wealth is stored in a massive vault almost as large as the city itself. This vault is under the king's fortress. A large portion of all weapons, and armor forged by dwarven hand is stored here.

History

The first city of the dwarven nation of Midor, founded by the first dwarves that came through the rift at the start of the first age. Their first king was a black smith by the name of Theos Vorsa. He discovered theosite, which was named after him. He made his capital within the same volcano in which he discovered the material. The city within the mountain would be the only source of the glowing metal, and would also be a source of great wealth to the dwarves. Now, Midor's current king, Throtir Broadhorn, seeks to go forth, and find new sources of theosite.

Points of interest

The entire mountain is a point of interest, as it is the only volcano in the known world, and is the only source of theosite.

Architecture

The entire city has been carved out of the rock over the course of centuries, and still is unfinished, as new city blocks are opening every few years.

Geography

The entire city is made of rock, and carved from the inside of a mountain.

Climate

The interior of the mountain is quite warm, averaging at about eighty degrees Fahrenheit with little, to no fluctuation in temperature.

Natural Resources

One natural resource makes the massive economy possible, and that is Theosite, the silver, and blue metal is high in demand, with an infinite supply, making it a seller's market.

That's actually a really cool idea. At the risk of stating the obvious, Mt. Theos (like all dwarven forge cities) was inspired by the forges of Moria from Tolkien's Middle Earth

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. -John, 3:16
