Laya Avasarala

Laya Avasarala is Mal Jones 's aunt. She is a first cousin to Vikram Avasarala and they grew up together as brother and sister.
She is currently working as a senior field agent for Pandora Unit, an organization that keeps dangerous magical artifacts out of human hands.
Laya is married to Malcolm Grant, an English werewolf. They have two children together, a pair of twins who are five years old when Mal first meets them. The boy is named Rohan while the girl is named Rekha.
Her missions for Pandora often keep her away from home for long periods of time. The twins stay with Malcolm in Legend Valley  at that time.

Laya is very close to Vikram and was devastated by his abrupt disappearance. At the Academy, she and Vikram were best friends with Malcolm Grant. 

“So…this Laya is my dad’s [Vikram's]…first cousin?”
Srini sighed as he settled himself deeper into the sofa, evidently looking for a more comfortable position. “Yes, she’s my younger brother’s only child. My brother died when she was just a baby, so my sister-in-law bought a house a few doors over. Laya and Vikram grew up together. They’re more like brother and sister than cousins.”
