Session 12: I Promise We're Not a Cult

Previous Report : Session 11: Things That Go Slash In The Night

The party awaken in the homestead and quickly ready themselves for the day.
Dia B. Lerist enjoys a hearty morsel of bread.
Jacq'ee Lumber and Talon Gold loot the bodies of the Absorbers.

The party begin their trek back into Madwick.
On the way, they encounter a pair of guards who strike up a conversation with Leena Percivale.
- The guards seem to be apologising for not being able to help stop the beast's attacks.
- When Leena Percivale scolds them and inform them that the party had dealt with the beasts, the guards appeared concerned and promptly bid Leena and the party good day before turning around and heading back to inform Iskron Itru.

As the party reach Madwick, they invite Leena Percivale to consider returning to Yabott with them.
Leena Percivale is initially unsure but agrees to at least discuss with her family first.
- She will talk to her sister and request that the party head to the Chefs guild to retrieve her cousin Cristina.
Christol 'Kit' Abistel and Talon Gold agree to split off from the party in order to speak with Lisarah.
Jacq'ee Lumber, Ashe Cinders, and Dia B. Lerist head to the Chefs Guild.
- Here they meet Cristina DeGrey, an apprentice baker who has been studying at the Chef's Guild for nearly eight years.
- She explains that under guild laws only a master baker is able to complete her training, and allow her to graduate from the guild.
- Unfortunately, the last master baker of the Guild was recruited into the great war just after Cristina's initiation.
- Graduates are expected to send a portion of future profits back to the guild. Because of the money spent on Cristina's lodging and training, the guild would demand a high price to release her from the apprentice contract.
- The party head up to the Guild Masters office, a Tabaxi named Hearty Ice.
- Hearty Ice is a strong-minded fellow, who sees an opportunity to hike the price of Cristina's contract.
- After some failed persuasion attempts, Ashe Cinders casts a strong spell of suggestion, allowing her to make Hearty Ice far more generous, ultimately releasing Cristina from her contract for free.
- Jacq'ee Lumber retrieves the parties cart from outside the walls and returns to help Cristina transport her belongings to Leena Percivale's home.

Christol 'Kit' Abistel and Talon Gold reach the Hillies estate, where they are brought into a lounge to await the Lady.
- After a hushed discussion, Lisarah accepted a bow and armour of Oliver.
- During the discussion Kit successfully lied to both Lisarah and Oliver about the events of his death and why he could not speak to her himself.
- Kit and Talon also unintentionally convinced Lisarah that they were a couple.
- Kit did however promise to find a way for Oliver Frooe to one day be reunited with Lisarah Hillies.

With all business conducted, the party returned to Leena’s house, where they began to create a teleportation circle.
- With Dia beginning the preparations, Kit and Ashe began the process of an ad-hoc conversion inside the house.
- This was not executed as well as Ashe and Kit had planned, and so Dia intervened using Hold Person to ensure the conversion was successful.
- Eventually, with the teleportation circle complete, the party teleported a half-converted group of civilians back to Yabott.

Talon was left to guard Haryn, an unconverted civilian until the Chalice had recharged.
- After his watch, Talon fell asleep and dreamt a vivid vision. So vivid he felt like he was physically pulled forwards in time. See Talon's Vision below.

Talon's Vision

As sleep takes a hold of you Talon, your heart settles, and your breathing is peaceful. After what seems like an eternity of peace, you begin to feel a build-up of energy in your chest. As this feeling grows, your heart begins beating faster and faster, and like a sharp wind, you open your eyes in a start. Your hand is wrapped tightly around your bow, an arrow nocked. You, Talon, stand to your right, blood dripping through the remaining shreds of your armour. Ashe appears to be using the last of her energy to conjure a wall of fire as she stands protectively in front of Dia's body, which lays limp on the floor. And Jackie, her legs kicking every which way, hangs helplessly in the air, as a large man in necrotic black plate mail grasps her by her throat. With no control over your body, your muscles tighten as you draw the fletch of the arrow to your ear, and release, striking the target true in the side of his breastplate. The dark helmet turns to you, and you see the gauntlet around Jackie's throat squeeze hard, before it launches her at you like a bolder. As Jackie's body strikes yours, the ball of energy in your chest burns hard, the world goes dark once more, and you sit up straight, in bed.
