Session 0: The Dread Kings Arrival

General Summary

The Journey Begins

Agricultural Anonymous

• We first meet Ashe Cinders and Jacq'ee Lumber, both members of Agricultural Anonymous. 
• The group are meeting in Anstigat to discuss the matter of The Calamity.

The Palace Gate

• Next we meet Christol 'Kit' Abistel, brother of Adeste Abistel.
• He journeyed with her to Anstigat after she was called upon by Queen Rosaline III to undertake a mission in relation to the Calamity.
• Kit was forced to stay nearby the Palace, and since Adeste left on her mission he has patrolled the palace gates each day waiting for news.

Market

• Next, we find Talon Gold wandering the streets of Anstigat searching for a particular shop, which he eventually finds. But not all is as it seems for Talon, who feels like the entire world he now treads through is fundamentally different to his own.

The Palace

• Last, we meet Rowen Ashe. After mysteriously surviving an encounter with Adeste Abistel in Yabott just hours before, he made his way through a portal and into the Palace. 
• As he navigates through the building, he comes across the throne room now overrun with evil forces.
• As Rowen is almost caught, he is saved by a mysterious hooded figure holding a Challice of Gold. The man tells Rowen to return to Yabott and search for answers about what is happening. He gifts Rowen the Blinkshot, hoping that he will be able to use it to escape.

The Escape

• As the forces of the Dread King spread out into Anstigat, each of our heroes survive chance encounters with varying soldiers and guards.
• As they all begin to flee the chaos they find themselves in the town square and witness a horrifying spectacle.
  • Queen Rosaline III walks into the square, blood dripping from her body, she appears to be in a tranced state. From the shadows, the Night Prowlers' beast pounces and slays the Queen in an act of public spectacle.
  • Our heroes jump to action in order to slay this beast before it hurts anyone else, performing their first takedown as a united party.
  • Once the beast is slain, they loot the Padded Boots, giving flight to two of the party members. 
• The party then make their way out of the city, but they encounter guards blocking civilians as they attempt to flee. After battle weary fight, the party dispatch of the guards, and make their way over the gate to freedom.
