The city of Vash Ossai comes under siege from the armies of the lich Ambrosius. During the battle, the necromantic engines are breached, flooding the city with deadly magical emanations. Queen Melekhandra, mortally wounded, succeeds in evacuating some of the civilian population and sealing the city.
