Yarabog

Yarabog was a bugbear mercenary, adventurer, and brigand, who in 1334AK had been part of a band of adventurers who had raided an ancient Tevashi tomb complex in the Sternespass, which they had discovered after heavy rains had caused a landslide to uncover the entrance. The party had entered into the tomb and stolen a significant amount of money; but when Yarabog happened to notice an inscription on one of the sarcophagi, and read that inscription aloud, they unintentionally unleashed some manner of ancient and terrible force which reached into their mind, showing them horrific visions of death and ruination. Yarabog fled the tomb, and in the chaos that ensued a trap was triggered which released a poisonous gas that killed almost all those who had entered.   Aside from Yarabog, the only other survivor was a halfling by the name of Emrys na Heilyn. The pair of them decided to split the treasure, collapsed the entrance to the caves in order to prevent others from coming across it, and then went their seperate ways. Over the following years, Yarabog discovered that they had been granted the ability to telepathically communicate with others, and also that they had a strangely soothing effect on other bugbears. However, over time they became increasingly plagued with nightmares and apocalyptic visions, which became ever more intense and horrific as time went on. Concluding that they had been cursed by the spirits of the ancient dead, Yarabog returned to the tomb in 1344AK with the intention of returning the money that had been stolen - though being unable to recall quite how much they had stolen, they decided to keep throwing money into the tomb until the curse was lifted.   After kidnapping a Lightfoot trade caravan bound for Gildenschloss, Yarabog and their companions were confronted by a party of adventurers who sought to free the captured halflings. It was only after this that the truth of Yaranbog's affliction became apparant - that rather than being cursed, the force that they had encountered in the tomb had somehow restored the part of them which connected to the Eusocial Bond - which was the source of their telepathic abilities and also of the unusual visions.
