Aurelius leads his army to invest the city. Whereupon, Octa, doubting that he can successfully defend it, surrenders unconditionally. Upon Bishop Eldadus’ advice, Aurelius pardons the Saxons and grants them the lands of Nohaut and Deira as vassals to the High King.
