Kent was originally the land of the Cantii, an ancient Cymric tribe. It is then conquered by the Jutes who call it Juteland, then by King Arthur, who calls it Kent. The residents Jutes become reluctant citizens of Arthur's kingdom. It provides some Saxon knights in the post-Conquest period.
