CDXLVII a.D. - Saint Germain revient en Bretagne

General Summary

Vortigern is elected as the High King by the Supreme Collegium, for defeating the Pict Invasion. He rewards the Saxons with the island of Thanet, in Kent, and then sends the Saxons to fight against the Picts in Cumbria. Vortigern agrees that Hengest should recruit more Saxons from the Continent. St. Germanus returns to Britain to condemn and combat British Christianity. He miraculously heals the crippled leg of the son of Elaphias, praetor of Winchester.

En Césarée Maxime :

As a result of the impressive victory in the preceding year, the Supreme Collegium meets and elects Vortigern as High King. Vortigern gives the Saxons the Isle of Thanet as their own property, as foederati. Rumors arrive saying the Cymri in Thanet were not consulted, but simply driven from their lands.

Also this year, a prelate from the pope, the saintly Germanus, returns to Britain to condemn and combat British Christianity. He heals the crippled leg of the son of Elaphias, praetor of Winchester.
