General Summary
The East Saxons’ Prince Sledd comes to Sarum to “ask for
tribute”. Other Saxon lords will send a trusted emissary
to the local court. Sir Brastias (or another) also pays a visit
to bring news of many dark things. Later in the year, word
comes of a battle in Caerwent in which the East Saxons
battled with the knights of Caerwent. The Saxons lost.
A new group of Saxons arrives, taking Hantonne by a
surprise attack. They name their kingdom Wessex. It is
discovered that this King Cerdic of Wessex is the son of
Vortigern and Rowena. He is both Cymric and Saxon. He
has tried to sway many a noblemen to his side, as he points
out that he is the true heir of a duly elected High King.
And by marriage, he is now a Saxon leader who holds
significant sway over them.
