the Eastern Reaches
A great war ensued for thousands of years east of the Sea of Ales before the zharrgrund (dwarves) and gnomes were ‘rescued’ from the deep freeze in their underground city-states. Chromatic dragon-gods reigned supreme and prodded their dragon-kings to send their armies of humanoid serfs/slaves against each in a perennial contest for supremacy. One such ‘nation’ remains far to the east of the Sea of Ales, overseen by a tyrannical kék sarkany (blue dragon) god.
Since this region remains the westernmost of this ongoing ‘dragon war’, those lucky enough to flee head into the rolling hills of the Free Tribes region farther west towards the Sea of Ales and hope never to return. Thus aside from convincing such refugees from expounding tales of their former enslavement, next to nothing is known about the area.
Farther south of this zone lies an as yet unnamed desolate mountainscape from which underground denizens sometimes surface for resources not found below the surface. These include the haargrund (dark dwarves), zhoran / szurke törpe (grey dwarves), and vlieger (kobolds), all mortal enemies. The zhoran seem to have surface strongholds and are willing to trade, but it's very unusual for the dunjaro (southern humans) to travel that far east unless lost or under the spell of wanderlust. Encounters with the haargrund almost always lead to a quick death, so next to nothing is known about these dangerous dwarfkin — according to a famous tale put to verse by a renowned dunjaro explorer, a single haargrund is a fair match for a dozen hardened zhoran.
