Soulstone

A naturally-occurring metal, Soulstone is a dark material shot through with glittering veins of silver.
In the hands of a skilled forgemaster, Soulstone can be used to imbue other items with extra strength, accuracy and -- in the case of items that already have arcane properties -- additional magical powers.
After The Surge, scholars and alchemists realised that Soulstone has a direct relationship with The Underworld: each deposit extracted from the ground opened a breach that allowed the nameless eldritch horrors that lurked beneath to cross over into the surface world.
Despite the dangers, scientific advances have led to the possibility of controlled extraction of Soulstone. Whilst strict procedures and magics known only to The Makers Guild are observed, the material can continue to be mined in small quantities without risk.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Ten pounds of Soulstone can be crafted by forgemasters into enchantments that give the following properties:

• +1 to weapons
• +1 to armour
• +1 spell DC to arcane focus

Any item can only be enchanted with Soulstone once, and an enchantment cannot be removed once applied.

Soulstone only appears to be located in the hills surrounding Last Hope.
