Floralfiends

"Floralfiends" is a colloquial term for any number of animated plant creatures that seem to exist with limited sentience. They are distinct from plant-based Elementals which are generally entirely magical in nature (rather than an animation of existing plant matter). They can appear anywhere that there is a confluence of plants and magic, and are most common within the Shifting Jungle and Nublar Jungle. They are generally mindless and aggressive, drawn towards animal life, which they attack, kill, and absorb through vines or roots. They can range in size from that of a dog or cat all the way up to several hundred pounds of wood, leaf, and vine.

Magical Control

Floralfiends (which are also occasionally referred to as "chlorofiends" or "vegemight") can often be controlled by Mages with the appropriate spells. They can also sometimes fall under the sway of more powerful plant creatures - this often manifests in the Shifting Jungle where they are virtually never seen around the Treants. Mage studies suspect that the Treants (intentionally or otherwise) exert their will over the smaller creatures to force them away.
