Biographer
There is a group that travels collecting stories. They say that for the right price and a true accounting of someone they can bring back the dead. They are called Biographers since they need to record someone's life in order to bring them back to life, they do this by using the power of Histoire to tattoo a life story on a corpse.
The practice is often thought of as a myth and only the desperate seek it out. Within First Loss it is more widely known and appreciated. There is not an active attempt to keep the practice secret but it is so rare and so hard to believe if the resurrection is not seen that is is often disbelieved. Many of the Coup are these returned so some Biographers have been mistakenly connected to the military of First Loss leading them to be hunted occasionally, especially in the Renyan Unitary.

Career
Qualifications
To learn Historie, the person must be an accomplished writer and interviewer in an age with few scholars. They must be able to glean stories from people and balance the truth, they must be able to uncover mysteries of the dead. No special power is required only a dedication to a story. The only specialist knowledge needed is the language the Biographer uses as a shorthand to convey information.
Other Benefits
Each biographer will write a book about their own life as resurrecting each other with Histoire. They can recognise and read the tattoos that others have written, letting them get a lot of information about any returned they meet.

Demographics
About one in five thousand people are a full Biographer with each taking two or three apprentices over a lifetime. There are currently around 20 full Biographers. The knowledge of how to use Histoire is still very new and the exact limits aren't well known.
There is little hierarchy beyond when a Biographer decides to take on apprentices. Teaching happens usually through what the teacher has seen work and practical experience. The amount of errors or edits that can be made is not well known. To become an apprentice one must find a Biographer that is willing to take them on. Asking around in the larger flotillas of First Loss is the easiest way. Previous scholarly training will help.
