Session 40: Entering the Marble Sanctum

General Summary

The Raven Swords decided not to kill Ravena, the warlock they captured last session. They thought it a good idea to get her back to Ranangard for further interrogation. They bound and gagged her and hid her in a cave, and proceeded to the Sanctum.

Within the Sanctum they fought a group of Allips. They killed them, though most of them were stunned for a few seconds from the Allips' Howling Babble.

They then discovered several small chambers protected by an energy barrier which Aellar deduced was tied to chronomantic magic. Aellar attempted to fey step within one such chamber and was rendered time-locked. The rest tried to find some way to release them.

Eventually, after much searching they found a statue within a hidden room, upon which several magicant shards were transfixed. By removing the shards, they depowered the timelocks and Aellar was free again. The party discovered that the central part of the dungeon had collapsed, leaving a gaping hole into an underground lake. Other areas of the dungeon are only accessible by climbing or flying.

Before exploring the other segments of the Sanctum, they explored their side further, in the process encountering a group of Bodaks, powerful undead with a withering gaze and an annihilating aura.
