Universal lock
This magical lock can be installed in almost every door and it has the property that it will only open with the key that was used to lock it.
They key has to be a physical object, and can be almost any shape as long as it is small enough to be inserted into the lock. Should the key be destroyed the lock will also open.
These locks are uncommon. They are fairly easy to find, but because they are worthless if they are locked and the key is lost the ones that can be found are often useless.
Origin
They are believed to be a dwarven invention based on the dwarven runes that are often carved into the lock body. However, some can be found with human writing on them, so it is a contested topic.
The creation process has been lost to time, but based on the amount of locks that can still be found it is safe to conclude that they were very common. Because the material is usually a cheap metal, it can be assumed that the magic is more important than the material.
