Chamber drumming

Let the rythm take you away to a place of harmony.

History

Deep beneath the sruface, in the Underdark, drums have little use.

Their sound reverberates far through the caves, but their beat is quickly lost, muddled into noise. At best this can be used to hide peoples movement.

However, the drum still exists down there, because its sound can in some smaller caves sound quite pleasant. Among drow such cave chanbers are used in rituals and meditation.

Execution

A drummer takes their place in the cave and slowly starts drumming. It is important for the drummer to concentrate on the sound, and to try and capture the harmonies.

With great care the speed is increased until the sound rumbles through the cave, while still having unmistakeable beats.

Components and tools

If a harmonious cave is found a few carpets are usually put down to increase the level of comfort for the drummer.

The drum in use ranges from small to medium in size, with a preference for lower notes.

Observance

Many perform this ritual as a way to meditate or to escape reality for a while. Because of this the time is random for each individual. Sometimes it is done in small groups as a way to celebrate something together.
