Bridge of Shadows

Walk through the mist and you'll end up where light and dark go and in hand.

To those living in the Underdark an underground lake is generally a good way to access freshwater. However, should mist roll in from the water the best option is to stay inside with weapons drawn, for when the bridge of shadows makes an appearance so do things from another plane of existence.

The bridge moves between lakes in the underdark and takes the shape of an isthmus that extends from the shore of the lake, reaching into the mist.

The isthmus curves gently and the bone dry dirt lies but a hand width away from the lakes water. The monotony of the light brown dirt is only occasionally interrupted by stones and bones.

Those who dare step across it will find themselves surrounded and attacked by shadows and lost spirits until they step of the isthmus on the other side. The other side also being the shore of a lake, but this one in the dreadful Shadowfell.

There have been reports of singing or wailing coming from the water in the mist, luring people on the isthmus into the water. Because the isthmus is in between two planes of existence there is no way of telling where those people ended up.
