The Turn of Pianes
Earthquakes are not uncommon near the Pianes Mountains. Unfortunately, the Wastes seem to get the brunt of them.
They've had to rebuild the city several times, and the most recent quake killed 984k people and injured 2k more.
While the people of Luhren are generally more scientifically minded and advanced, the rumor that the dragon Pianes had turned in his sleep still went around the city and beyond. It's a story that's been around for centuries and continues to circulate to this day. Researchers in Luhren, Luhren are trying to find the actual cause of the quakes, and are on the verge of the theory of plate tectonics. Noctre, however, has already reached that conclusion, but it isn't widely accepted throughout the continent yet. Most still believe in the sleeping dragon.
The quakes were felt throughout the entirety of the mountain range and surrounding areas; it's just that the strongest of them were felt by the people of the Wastes and the surrounding towns and villages.
