The Locket
Along the banks of Lake Garlen, a woman wanders looking for her locket. Her clothes drip with water and her skin is almost gray, eyes hazy and hollow. She seems panicked, fretful as she searches the shoreline for something.
Acquisition:
The Sol staggers closer to the party, gripping someone's shirt as she begs for help with finding her locket. The lake is vast and she barely remembers where she last had it. She points down the water's edge but says she cannot leave this area to look for it along the shoreline. Something is keeping her here.
Lake Garlen
It's up to the party to follow the shoreline until they find a cart half submerged in the water. Attached to it is a bloated, dead horse, and inside is a corpse with an arrow through her heart. She might be the same woman. Searching the body and cart do not turn up anything valuable, let alone the locket, but there is a noise in the distance, voices laughing and chatting.
Venturing closer, they find four bandits who've made camp; one of them is wearing a silver locket.
Resolution:
The party can try to negotiate to get the locket from them peacefully, or they can fight them to get it back by force. From there, they can either return the locket to the spirit or they can sell it, leaving her to wander forever. They also have the option of telling the guards about the body and bandits and letting them handle it. The spirit will not get her locket back if the players take this option, but she will be identified and given a proper burial.
Rewards:
- If the party fights and kills the bandits, the GM can decide what valuables they find amongst their things.
- If they go to the guards to report it, they'll only get a small reward, the amount of which is at the GM's discretion.
