Kerts
The Carrowine Forest is filled with all manner of strange creatures and beings. They freely roam the forest they call home, but not everyone has the ability to leave and go wherever they like. Massive trees feast on anything that gets too close to them. Their taproot may keep them anchored in place, but the rest of their roots are free to creep and grab. From cute little bunny rabbits to the massive spodrellis that hunt for people foolish enough to wander into the forest, nothing is spared from their hunger.
Their roots pull from the ground, soil dropping to the ground like rain as they slap against the earth. Smack, smack, they pat around, looking for the source of the motion they felt. Grabbing their prey, they drag them closer and then under the tree, back into the soil, where the victim will decompose after being buried alive and provide nourishment to the tree.
