Yötka

The village of Yötka floats on the Carili sea. Unlike towns like Whitebeach the people of Yötka are hospitable and friendly to travelers though they are not afraid to defend themselves when they need to. They live off the sea, fishing, making jewelry out of shells, and living in the sun. The center of Yötka is built on a small island but a large part of the town is directly on the water itself. Sometimes pirates attack Yötka but they have learned to defend themselves with armed battleships and cannons.

Demographics

Yökta is mostly made up of humans, halfings, and sometimes gnomes but they are not adverse to diversity. There are not very many wealth classes as most people make the same amount of money and pretty much everybody is some form of fisherman.

Government

The government of Yötka is small and more communal, one mayor and some townsfolk make the bills and collect taxes for businesses and laws are voted on by the people.

Defences

Yötka can fight back when they need to against pirates, they do so with four massive battleships loaded with cannons. A few towers also are placed on the edges of the town armed with bows and cannons.

Industry & Trade

Almost all of the industry of Yötka is based off fish and fishing. Nearly everybody living in Yötka is a fisherman and the exotic fish and fish parts are sometimes surprisingly valuable and can be sold for quite a bit, sometimes people will dive for colorful seashells to make jewelry.

Infrastructure

Yötka has many large docks with big shipyards ready to dock any boats which need to be docked on its ports. The roads are simple stones but they are kept clean.

Assets

Yötka's main asset is fish and fish parts from The Carili Sea which they store for the occasional trader.

Guilds and Factions

Yötka is a fairly unified town where most people get along. There are only two real guilds which can sometimes fight over resources, the fisherman's guild who are responsible for the fishing activity and the defense guild who protect the town from pirates.

History

Yötka was created before the events of The Solstice of Shadows by a group of people who simply wanted to live away from all the noise, since then it has grown considerably in size.

Architecture

Yötka's architecture is simple and clean, buildings are primarily made out of wood and thatch but it is a tradition to paint your door in the most colorful hue possible. Window frames and signs are also commonly painted to look nice.

Geography

Yötka consists of a small central island which contains a portion of the town and then spread out floating buildings across the surrounding ocean.

Natural Resources

Yötka is, of course, rich in fish and exotic marine materials. Rare fish roam the inner parts of The Carili Sea and it is the only place on Laeriss where many oceanic materials and things can be found.
