Mangrove Marsh

Mangrove Marsh is a large marshland bordering on the northern side of Quarillis. It is known for the abundant mangroves which grow all over the marsh but also contains other kinds of tropical trees. There is an overhead canopy over a huge area of the marsh making it constantly shaded year round, a nice release from the hot sun in the area but it won't protect you from the humidity. The marsh is quite dangerous and has monsters, aggressive animals, and all sorts of lurking threats but the heat is your true enemy here.
"Being in a quite humid mire for over a week is one of the least pleasant experiences one can have, I am not a fighter and did not expect the many creatures which tried attacking me during my trip nor did I enjoy the uncomfortable heat, it was quite scary indeed."
-Tropical Researcher, Ega Intfer

Geography

Mangrove marsh is, as the name implies, quite wet. To traverse many parts of the marsh you require a boat because of the water which covers a large amount of the area. Tropical trees cover the marsh, namely the mangrove which gives the area its namesake. The water is technically freshwater but not safe to drink unless carefully filtered since many bugs, diseases, and just a whole lot of dirt lives within it. Certain parts of the marsh can be quite beautiful but it is quite brown, muddy, and dirty looking aside from the occasional colorful animals and plants residing there. It is not safe to build buildings on top of the ground there since it may give way at any moment causing any buildings on top to slide down into the mud or water and be submerged.

Fauna & Flora

While the marsh isn't pleasant for humans it is quite habitable for many flora and fauna. Small and large tropical birds fly through underneath the canopy's eating the plethora of small insects which live just about everywhere. The warm and damp environment is perfect for just about every species of worm, spider, beetle, or ant you could imagine. Many tropical and colorful fish reside within the muddy waters of the Mangrove marsh, feasting on the algae, moss, and kelp growing on every part of the water as well as taking safety in the many fallen logs and dense roots of the trees.

Natural Resources

The marsh is dangerous and usually not harvested for its natural resources but when it is there is plenty of value to be taken. Colorful birds, fish, plants, and animals are caught there, sometimes being sold as pets or having their exotic feathers, scales or other parts harvested. The wood of the mangrove trees is hard to harvest but valuable and has a rich red color. Sometimes bugs from the marsh will even be caught and sold to wealthy collectors or researchers looking to study the environment.
