Goldpyre Island

Goldpyre island is the home of the legendary ancient golden dragon, Gorrak. It is sorrounded by a magic mist with a slight golden tint, the island is incorporeal and invisible to anybody who is not granted passage by Gorrak. An elegant canopy of multicolored trees like a beautiful autumn forest with twisting branches covers the island, getting thicker along with the golden mist going inwards. The island is covered with powerful monsters who test anybody who wants to reach Gorrak himself, only a hero of great power and immense strength can make their way to the heart of the island where Gorrak himself resides within the ancient ruin of a castle once lived in by a great storm giant. The golden mist attracts huge quantities of Arcane flux and makes the air crackle with magical energy. While many things on the island are magically enchanted to be made up of gold and riches, when taken out of the mist they will turn to regular things and become completely worthless. Certain gold coins and gemstones will keep their form when taken off the island though, yet Gorrak does not permit it. The golden mist of the island is what coats and infuses everything with gold, though gold taken away from the mist will slowly evaporate and rejoin into the mist as one leaves the island.

Geography

Goldpyre island is mostly flat but there is a slight hill in the middle, it is entirely covered in trees. Many small streams and rivers originating from the magical lair of the golden dragon Gorrak intertwine into a web of gold-tinted water flowing all throughout the island, much like everything else on the island, the golden water is incredibly valuable being filled with gold dust but will lose its worth and turn to regular water when taken away from the mist. The soil is a golden color intertwined with flecks of orange, red, and yellow, along with the multicolored roots of the trees running through the dirt. While it may be dangerous, the island is astoundingly beautiful with its colors more vivid than any other occurring in nature and its beauty unparalleled by any other forest on Laeriss.

Fauna & Flora

The first feature of goldpyre island one may notice is the incredibly vibrant multicolored trees covering the entire island. These trees are in vivid shades of red, yellow, orange, teal, and purple, with incredibly long and slender branches which curl like thousands of elegant snakes twisting through the mist. The island has a multitude of mythical and legendary creatures not found anywhere else, geese which transmute golden eggs, the nest of a flaming phoenix, unicorns with flowing golden manes and silver furred pegasus's with platinum manes, graceful deer with antlers made of pure gold and fur the color of the setting sun, and elegant couatl which fly through underneath the canopies defending the island from intruders. Golden ferns create perfect curls reaching up to the sky, bushes and grasses in the colors of autumn coat the soil.

Natural Resources

While goldpyre island is incredibly rich in mythical and legendary creatures, the good-willed Gorrak would never allow a poacher to get away with simply harvesting these creatures for their rare parts and riches. Huge hoards of gold, gemstones, and artifacts lie within the olden castle in the center of the island, though Gorrak also prohibits the stealing of these treasures from the island. Although the streams, trees, plants, soil, rocks, and mist is all filled with pure gold, the gold within every part of the island disappears into the mist as it thins out and eventually disappears, taking the gold from the island with it.
