Alchemic Grasslands

The Alchemic grasslands are a large expanse located on the south-western portion of Rena, the soil is infused with magical properties causing the grass to grow up to twelve feet tall. Legends tell of a powerful druid who in their dying moments cast a great spell over the land, causing the grass to grow and the soil to be enchanted. The magical city of Oarilī sits at the western edge of the alchemic grasslands, where the spell casters there study and make use of the magic which permeates through the area.

Geography

The alchemic grasslands are a massive span of mostly flat wet land covered in tall grass. The soil ranges from slightly muddy to very muddy and small brooks, streams, and creaks run through the ground. The water running through the small channels in the mud is not particularly safe to drink on its own but can be filtered to be safe. The grasslands are surprisingly beautiful because of the colorful grass, beautiful streams, and huge expanses. Some say one of the most beautiful views in the world is off a lone hill in the middle of the grasslands called Serinad hill.

Fauna & Flora

The main and most common flora is, of course, the famous alchrean or alch-grass. Alchrean grows to be about five feet tall in its young stages and up to twelve feet tall in its maturity, the colors of Alchraen are vivid ranging from lime-green to teal. The land is rich in animals of every kind, but bugs specifically are very common. Burrowing creatures like worms, moles, or other bugs are also very common as well as very small fish which live in the streams. All these creatures make perfect prey for long-beaked birds like seagulls which constantly fly around the wetlands picking bugs and fish from the ground. Creatures like ducks and swans also swim in the larger ponds and streams of water feasting on the many bugs and fish within the water. Algae and mosses grow everywhere all across the fertile mud and by the brooks.

Natural Resources

The alchemic grasslands are rich in resources and provide many boons. The soil from the alchemic grasslands, commonly referred to as alch-soil, is harvested and used in fertilizer. The waters of the alchemic grasslands are said to have healing properties when filtered so many also will take as much water as they can carry to sell it to the rich. One of the biggest exports is alchraen because that it is incredibly sturdy and can be fashioned into clothes or decorations. The magical properties of the land itself is exploited in the town of Oarilī as the mages there harness the very magic of the land in their research and creations.
