Lantern of St Cornestus

The Lantern of Saint Cornestus is a Sanctified artifact that is included among the Articles of the Saints. It is an oil fired travel lantern designed to be hung from a belt loop. It is square in shape, with glass sides reinforced by a cage of wrought iron lattice work.
Saint Cornestus was a young Knight of the Order of the Argent Crow when he began his crusades into the dark, forgotten places underneath the cites of where Aberrant things fester in deep shadows. He and his fellow knights were ambushed by a cult of Dark Wizards, and with their lanterns extinguished, suffered heavy losses. Though suffering from grave wounds, Cornestus managed to re-light the last intact lantern, though he succumbed to his injuries in the process. It is said that the flickering flame grew brighter than it ever had before, and the Dark Wizards cowered before its radiance, allowing the surviving knights to rally and take the counter attack. After the battle, it is said that the light could not be extinguished, and that on returning to the surface, the lantern vanished back into the darkness below.
