The Thousand Eyes

Kytheria is home to no shortage of mercenaries, but the Thousand Eyes differ by focusing exclusively on serving as bodyguards or for small unit actions. This allows them to specialize in close quarters combat, and their name is meant to assure clients that they remain ever watchful. The Thousand Eyes also facilitate the movement of goods, offering consultation to traders and displaying a nigh miraculous ability to get the paperwork, licenses, etc. necessary to make trade possible. Their fees are fair and they have an excellent track record, even if their reputation is that of a humorless group.   The reality is that the Thousand Eyes serve first and foremost as a broad spy network for the church of Fisilti. While acolytes and priests are expressly forbidden from participating in mercenary activities, Fisilti's clandestine priesthood recruits heavily from seasoned mercenaries who show a capacity for cunning and skulduggery. Many of the rank and file members are unaware of this connection, and dutifully file their reports as ordered, and these are always meticulously filled out. Thousand Eyes officers insist that accurate reporting down to the last detail helps them devise strategies against future threats, and it does, but Fisilti's clergy also takes advantage of this intelligence and can deduce secrets no one else can. They're extremely careful to use this knowledge judiciously, as selling secrets blatantly acquired by their own mercenaries would expose them, but they gain an unparalleled ability to manipulate others.

Structure

The Church of Fisilti governs the organization and makes important decisions for it. Below the Church are regional captains, one for each major city or vast region, and below them are up to twenty lieutenants who compile reports and give orders to the rank and file. Sergeants are put in charge of any group larger than five (never more than twenty), and Corporals lead five person teams.

Public Agenda

The Thousand Eyes serve as bodyguards and trade consultants for anyone who can afford them.

Assets

The Thousand Eyes is a profitable mercenary company in its own right, but the backing a religious organization proficient in the use of secrets gives them an extra edge. Thousand Eyes personnel often move via skyship, as the order owns a couple dozen.
