Scutum-class skyship

In stark contrast to typical Republic design philosophy, the Scutum is the most powerful (and most expensive) small skyship currently flying. It not only reaches the top speeds of skyships, matching the Arrow in strong prana conditions, but carries the second best armor in its weight class and pairs the standard magicannon with a lightning gun. Though it looks similar to the Pilum-class vessel, the Scutum's wings are slightly enlarged and widened. The secret to its puissance is superior materials (which, of course, are what make it so costly). The Scutum is the preferred craft for dignitaries, generals, and other important Republic individuals who wish to travel swiftly. Pilots promoted to one of these vessels from within the ranks of a legion consider it a tremendous honor.
The sails are forty feet long (the cabin and wheelhouse are only ten feet in length), and the top speed of nearly 100 mph is consistent in most parts of the world. The skyship's power requirements prohibit operation in some areas, but the range of these craft is still incredible.
