Eagle-class skyship transport

The pride of the Republic is the Eagle-class skyship, one of the largest vessels of any kind in world. Measuring one hundred and fifty meters from nose to stern, they dwarf even seaborne warships and are capable of carrying an entire cohort into battle. Only thirteen have been built over the Republic's history, but only one has ever been destroyed.   The front of the vessel looks somewhat like a bird's head, with a beak and a crest reminiscent of a falcon's. A the main body is divided into two large compartments, with the middle serving as a cargo hold, staging area, mess hall and engine room. The rear compartment contains living quarters and also the apparatus for deploying the ship's vulnerable sails, which sweep forward to allow for flight in low-prana areas. The sails are only deployed when the vessel is moving through lands without sufficient geomancy to keep the vessel afloat otherwise; the sails have orichalchum thread woven into them, but no armor.    Armament is varied to prepare for any contingency. Three power cores support this massive vessel, and each one provides energy to two magicannons. Two cannons are placed at the top and bottom of the 'head', two more are positioned underneath and on the sides of the middle section, and the remaining two guard the rear from the top and bottom of the back section. Two ballistae are mounted on the 'shoulders', so that even if the vessel is grounded due to low prana and lack of access to the Girdle's magic through the power cores, the ship can support soldiers filing off. The ballistae can be reloaded using magically power machines or manually as needed. Lastly, four Arrow craft are tucked under the rear section and can be accessed within the ship, providing additional support as necessary. A deck on the back of the ship allows for other smaller skyships to land on the vessel, and most carry such a vessel with them to avoid landing whenever a small detachment needs to hit the ground.   Other than their paint jobs, the twelve remaining vessels are identical, with no modifications deemed necessary. With their sails deployed, these craft can reach a maximum speed of thirty miles per hour, and have no need to stop and rest or refuel, as the power cores draw energy directly from the Girdle of the Gods. The Apophis is the only vessel to have been utterly destroyed, and the Republic wasn't able to recover much of value as the armies from the Seven Kingdoms stripped the remains so thoroughly, but the Black Eagle, Steel Bull, Lion Rampant, Tiger Shark, Kraken, Celestial Ram, Imperial Fist, Brass Nightmare, Serpent's Nest, Pankratos, Stormfront, and Bride of War are all fully functional and ready to ferry troops to whatever battlefield the Republic deems necessary.
