Halden (Hall-Den)

Halden is the capital city of Malarife. It is the seat of power for the theocracy where many crucial decisions for the kingdoms war against the shadow lands and the necromancers that dwell within. However as the Capital of Malarife it is also the front of a three way conflict between those wanting to continue fighting the necromantic threats as is, those pushing for more extreme action to be taken, and The Forgotten of Malarife (also know as The Demon Heresies) who are sick and tired of all the fighting.

Demographics

Haldren has a mostly human population with the next highest being a mix of elves and giantfolk

Government

Halden as a part of Malarife is ruled by the Holy Church of Malarife who rules over the settlement both in matters of law and faith.

Districts

The Major Districts of Haldren are as follows:
The Holy Crucible which is where the First Church of Malarife is and serves as the location of all the important temples and other major buildings in Haldren
The Crown which is where all the major noble houses of Haldren house reside
The Vigilant Road which is the main district of Haldren
The Tassels which is the main market in Haldren and where most trading goes on within the city
The Fade which is the city slums where all those who are disgraced or have otherwise been forgotten by the greater population of Haldren reside. Due to this it is also the location where the Demon Heresies due there recruiting
Yher's Wall which encircles the city and also serves the main source of defense for the city of Haldren

Guilds and Factions

The most important faction in Haldren is the Holy Church of Malarife which serves as both a legislative body as well as a religious body.
There is also the Malarife Inquisition whose main base of operation is here from which they serve to root out any necromantic or demonic infiltrations
Finally the Grand Knights have a sizable presence as Haldren is the capital

History

Halden was founded shortly after the founding of Malarife as a fortress dedicated to the defense of the theocracy against the threat of a necromantic incursion. It eventually grew into a bastion of faith and security against a possible invasion of undead forces from The Shadow Lands

Architecture

Haldren like most of Malarife has architecture that is inspired by a mix of gothic infrastructure with 14th Century France. Many of Haldren's buildings also serve as a defensive purpose to protect the citizenry from an attack from undead forces
