Houdin

Houdin Ros

Physical Description

Body Features

Tall and imposing he stands above most any other man, if not in height then in demeanor. His body trained and sculpted with the sole purpose of killing things most men should flee from, arms handing to each side as if disjointed.

Facial Features

A well-defined face, which portrays a kind yet confident demeanor. His long dark brown, usually unkempt and often tied back as too not interfere with his senses. A thick beard with sharp pointed bushy eyebrows provides him with a striking look that most won't soon forget.

Identifying Characteristics

Pale grey eyes, with a small amount of color in their center, as if the colors themselves are slowly draining away.   His hand bear holes that go through each of Houdins palms as if a nail had been struck through. A second pair of scars run the length of his forearms, the area accentuated by what can only be described as deforemed & broken bones pushing up against his skin. His arms seem wounded beyond being functional, yet Houdin somehow moves his arms, even holding his own with them in combat, as if these massive wounds don't phase his movement.

Mental characteristics

Education

Solid educational base, in the subjects of histories, lore, and most important studies pertaining to monstrous creatures.   He was trained in the [insert military force], learning to use a variety of combat and leadership training programs. He spends the first half of his career as the [insert leadership rank] of military detachment, and the latter half as a member of the [insert specialized taskforce] killing monstrous threats.

Mental Trauma

Back in Houdin's monster hunting days, after a long days work, he would return to a small house outside of town where his wife and two children lived in secret in order to stay safe. One of these days Houdin heard a knock on his door, nothing could have prepared him for what would happen when he opened that door.   Men assaulted Houdin, he attempted to defend his family and their home, strike down a few of his assailants but there were too many even for Houdin. They held him to the floor, pounding nails into his hands and feet, his family crying in the corner, the mercenaries keeping them from intervening.   The door opened once more a tall man walking in with a long leather trenchcoat and wide-brimmed hat, his faced covered with a mask made of cast metal bars. He went to work immediately cutting Houdin's forearms open with an unnerving amount of skill, once open he took out a metal rod twist and turning it until finally the bones snapped freeing themselves from each other and rending Houdins arms useless.   Once Houdin was rendered unable to defend his family the Butcher went to work on his wife cutting her apart until no one could recognize what was left of her. When it came to the children the man did not outright kill or torture them, no, that would be too easy. Instead, he pulled out a device, which he used to surgically cut out a chunk from the children's flesh so they would bleed out, slowly but surly. He promised Houdin that no surgeon could fix his handy work, and so the Butcher and his mercenaries left Houdin on the floor unable to save his own children.   Houdin would allow those he loved to die so easily however, he pulled his hands and feet from the nails that bound him to the ground. He used what little movement he had left in this arms with the help of his teeth, to painstakingly roll his children onto his arms using broken spears for support, and rope to hold his limp arms in place.   And so Houdin waked his bloodied children wrapped in this limp arms, past the town he trust could not save his children up through the mountains until he found The white Witches home, the same which he had been tracking down all this time, now his only hope.

Intellectual Characteristics

Tactically minded, Houdin has dealt with enough military excursions to not get himself into an unfavorable situation.   Natual Leader, he commands respect and attention from whoever follows him, this aspect of his of his personality has become natural for him.

Morality & Philosophy

Houdin has an extremely strong sense of duty toward those who are vulnerable, during his time as a monster hunter he kept this side of himself curbed. The need to protect the innocent would always be a through in the back of his mind, he was therefore always ready to save someone in danger.   The group he works with always comes first, their wellbeing is paramount to not only the group's success but, integral to Houdins core values. Anyone who puts themselves in danger will find Housin ready to save them from such danger, yet isn't afraid to let go of a liability when possible.

Taboos

He dislikes people swearing or talking about dark themes around him, this steams form Housin wanting to protect those younger ears that might overhear such things. As a father himself he pays close attention to these things, though he does occasionally slip up himself.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Ultimately Houdin has one goal an that is to undo what happened to his Children, their inevitable death, the decisions forced upon him in order to preserve their lives.   Houdin is, however, no fool he knows what someone was behind what happened to his children and... Aria. He knows that whoever is after him will not stop here. They have and will continoue to tear away everything Houdin holds dear in this world, so, while this fact holds true this world will not be a worthy place for his children to live.   Therefore before he is to fight for his children's lives on this world he must first fight for this world to be good enough for them. To that end, Houdin will fight side by side with any who are willing to help him attain his goals, and in return help them attain their goals whatever they might be.

Eccleston Kingsley (1-1): Who & Where?

Going into this I had less information than i'd normally be willing to contend with, however, the uncertainty of my situation, and the need to find a solution to my current predicament forced my hand. Who is this man who would hire us under such questionable pretenses, I guess my question isn't as simple as it might seem, I know who Eccleston Kingsley is or at least who he wants me to believe he is, I more accurately wonder who he might actually be. I've dealt with many clients over the years but most are less open with their motivations, or at the very least make it clear that their reasons are none of my concern, I know how to deal with men who doesn't trust, what makes me uneasy is a man who seems to trust to much.   I'd be a fool to trust those who Eccleston hired to work alongside me, I may have worked with some of them in the past but, trust is not so easily gained with me, at least not anymore. I know Darvin and Koletta to be professionals, which makes me comfortable knowing that they'll be focused on the job at hand. And at the very least I know where Hazel stands, she may be a witch, a fact which still makes me unsure of her intent but, I do owe her a debt and in a sense I trust that creature, who's kind I've studied, tracked down, and killed most of my life.   On our way to the city of Bahzacahr I did my best to make it clear, that I protect those around me with my life, and expect the same courtesy of those who are able to do the same. Of course, this was directed towards Darvin and Kolletta, Hazel is under my protection until the day she might turn against me, and Koletta's companion Tutie was of little concern to me at that moment. The trip did serve to paint Tutie in a kind light at least, her kindness towards the peasant children we rode with, made her seem so. Regardless of who Tutie is, I'll protect her like any who might travel with me, but I doubt she would ever show me that same kindness, I will not judge her for it as that is far from my place.   Bahzacahr was quite interesting, and I'm sure they would have loved it here, but now I see little interest in a place like this, for a man like me. After speaking with Eccleston he gave me the job, and that was enough for me, little else mattering outside of our task, through his mentions of the Void Treasury did peak my interest, an interest i'll explore later with Hazel.   After meeting mister Kingsley we took notice of a man who had seemingly been tailing us, a long and messy chase through the streets of Bahzacahr later we caught the man. After some surprisingly effective questioning on Darvin's part the man gave us a name, Damien, someone this rouge had been hired by to tail Eccleston and his associates. We left the man tied up in the streets, making sure he would not talk, my assumption therein was that we would leave the man alone, now that we had gained what information we needed but, against my wishes, Tutie split off form us to pay the rouge a visit.   She returned with an unnervingly joyful look, and the fact that a scream was heard from the alley we left the rouge in was not a good look. I later split off and returned to the man, apologized for what Tutie had done, giving him the gold Eccleston had given me. I made it clear that he needed to leave Bahzacahr, telling him that one way or another I needed to tie up loose ends, and if he got away from this city and I wouldn't have to do anything else.   I am quite frustrated with Tutie, being careful not to stop her before she did what she did, as to not have animosity later on down the line, and for that same reason, I won't confront her until I've found what I need. There may come a time where her rash actions put us in unnecessary danger, and I'd like to deal with her before that time comes.
