Travlers Town Job Board

Job Boards (AKA Mission Boards or Quest Boards) are places in a city or town where people or businesses can post want ads for work they need done that they can't staff themselves. These tasks range from bounty hunting to gathering materials and making deliveries.   Bounty hunting notably comes with a ranking system to declare the perceived difficulty of the quarry:
  • Blue Sky - Easier jobs for beginner adventurers or those who just need to make a quick buck. Mostly low level monster hunting and parts collection. (Tier 1 or CR 0-5) CRx40 base gold
  • Gray Sky - Intermediate bounties. Bigger monsters and criminals wanted, dead or alive, who are too dangerous for regular guards or soldiers to capture. (Tier 2 or CR 6-10) CRx50 base gold
  • Red Sky - Advanced targets. For boss monsters or threats to the realm that are wanted dead because they're to dangerous to be kept in live custody. (Tier 3 or CR 11-15) CRx60 base gold
  • Black Sky - These bounties are mostly just warnings for adventurers to avoid. They have the biggest payouts, but pose the greatest danger the land has to offer. (Tier 4 or CR 16 and above) CRx80 base gold

Quests

Retrieval: Potions Shipment

Poster: Cid Highwind
My last shipment of potions out of Berguntrukung never arrived and all messages from the town have stopped a couple weeks ago. I suspect something terrible has happened. Please go there, investigate the cause, and recover the potions shipment if you can. 1 crate, various types.
300gp for completion, plus 200gp bonus for returning with the potions crate.

Blue Sky Bounty: DandeLions Completed

Poster: Xen Grey
A couple of flower-like monster cats, or maybe they're cat-like flower monsters? Whatever they are, they've moved into the grasslands a few days south-east of town. They're invasive and bad for the wild life in the area, but good for potions and spell components! wipe out the monsters and bring back as many tail seeds as you can harvest.
480gp for completion, plus 50gp per undamaged DandeLion seed   DM Note: Roll d4s for number of day's travel to reach the Dandelions, the number of dandelions that apear each day, and the number of salvagable seeds from each tail. DC15 check to harvest tail seeds.

Blue Sky Bounty: Pravus Beetles

Poster: Justice Tighfield
Pravus Beetles live in the woods just south of town. They're big, and their hard shells are good materials for making armor and shields. Kill a couple, and bring back their shell plating. The useful stuff is on on the abdomen and thorax.
100gp per shell plate (max 6)   DM Note: Giant Spiders will also appear if the Spider Hive bounty has not been cleared.

(2nd Visit) Delivery: Radiant Grotto (flesh out town)

Poster: Jamal Ikki
I've got a 4 crates of spell parchment and ink that need to go to Radiant Grotto, on the coast, but the shipment's too big to go through the mail and a bit too conspicuous for a regular currier to take on foot. The buyer is also concerned about timing, so you've got 3 weeks from pickup to make the delivery.
300gp when you take the quest, and another 300gp upon timely delivery to XXXX

Red Sky Bounty: Spider Hive

Poster: Neela Holg
A dangerous spider monster has moved deep into the woods south of town and started some kind of spider colony. It's expanding fast, but if you can kill the queen, it should fizzle out on it's own. One of my regulars, a young woman named Elise, has snuck in and out of their territory and can guide you to the Queen Spider's lair. Meet her at the inn in the Second District and she can guide you through the maze of webs.
420gp for proof of queen spider's defeat, plus whatever loot was left there by the poor sods who've been   DM Note: Elise will lead the party through/past a 1d4+1 Giant Spiders encounter, followed by a Hex Weaver fight, before reaching the queen spider's lair and revealing herself to be the Spider Queen.

(2nd Visit) Red Sky Escort: Rare Wizard's Tomes (flesh out town)

Poster: Edric Hyleal
I've heard from a reliable book source that somewhere in the vast forrest, east of the ridgeback mountain range, lies an abandoned village that was home to a great wizard, and more importantly, their collection of books and tomes. I'd like to add that collection to mine, but short of heaving their entire library back to town to sort through its contents, the best way to do that is for a capable group to accompany me there, so that I can separate out the worthwhile books myself. I can also provide some clerical assistance for anything we might encounter on the way.
500gp for escort to the hidden village and safe return to town, plus a 10gp bonus for any worthwhile books found there   DM Note: The hidden village is actually the still-enhabited Smurf Village. A DC 10 Investigation of Papa Smurf's collection reveals 2d6 books Edric is interested in, half of which Papa Smurf is willing to part with.
A DC 16 Investigation or Arcana check of Gargamel's collection reveals 3d8+6 books Edric is interested in. Gargamel will not willingly part with any of them.
