Miracle City Bounty Board
Job Boards (AKA Mission Boards or Quest Boards) are places in a city or town where people or businesses can post want ads for work they need done that they can't staff themselves. These tasks range from bounty hunting to gathering materials and making deliveries.
Bounty hunting notably comes with a ranking system to declare the perceived difficulty of the quarry:
Poster: Miracle City Sheriff
An extremely dangerous rebel vigilante. This new Plata is a young woman wearing a silver mask, a silver sombrero with three stars on each side, a matching leotard, boots, a long glove on her right arm and a large metal gauntlet on her left. She has also been seen wearing a red cape with a gold clasp. The gauntlet is mostly silver, but the middle has a skull and the wrist is black studded with silver spikes. Wanted dead or alive.
200gp DM Note: this bounty is only active while Django or his allies rule the city
A strange mechanical construct has appeared 5 days northwest of the city, on the route between here and Sunset Port. It's been attacking anyone who comes near, making tade difficult. Merchants'll add days to the trip just to go around its territory, and the damn thing keeps hiding in the sand and changing where it sleeps, so even that's tricky. Find it. Kill it. Bring back proof.
1280gp
The outlaw Rattlesnake Jake has been spotted in and around the Calavera. He's been a manace round these parts for far too long. Be on the lookout for his posse of Yuanti bandits as well. They'll be armed and dangerous. Wanted Dead. Don't got a jail big enough for the sonovagun.
720 gp
In the scrublands just outside of the city, among the cacti are strange little plant creatures called Cactuars. A cactuar is an animate cactus known for its peculiarly humanoid appearance and its incredible speed and agility. Like ordinary cacti, cactuars have evolved to absorb and store large amounts of water in their bodies. This gives their flesh a succulent texture and a rich taste, and cactuar “meat” is considered a delicacy in certain cultures. Go out into the scrubs and see if you can catch any. They spoil quick, so don't hold onto em' for more than a few hours if ya' kill 'em.
300gp alive, 150gp per fresh husk DM Note: A cactuar husk will spoil if not prepared within 12 hours of its death.
I have a crate of sensitive items that needs to be delivered, unopened to Taro Katon, a young man in Sunset Port. He is recognizable by his golden eyes, ash gray skin, and silver hair. Discretion required. These are very delicate pet supplies, so don't open the crate; I'll know!
400gp up front, and 600 upon delivery to Taro. DM Note: Taro and Ugdough are members of the Cult of the Infernian. The crate is locked (DC 17 to pick) and trapped (DC 20 to find). It cannot be disarmed but the spell can be dispelled. If opened without the key, the crate is set to detonate a delayed blast fireball spell at point blank, and then summon a Fire Elemental.
Inside the crate is a top layer of 6 fancy pet leashes and some padding, covering 15 ritualistic looking daggers with a flame design to the blades and guards.
(Written in messy script with several mispellings) I gotta lotta jars o' my speciall homebrew that need to get out to a budy o' mine in Dessert Bluffs, now that the town is open again. Meet me at my stand and I'll load you up. The stuff's going to Gardain Orla, an Owlin with pinkish feathers. Last I spoke to her, she was bar maiding at one of the pubs. Don't recall which.
You give me 100gp now (for collateral) and Gardy'll give you 500gp plus your 100 back on delivery. DM Note: The "homebrew" is 20 corked clay bottles of extremely strong moonshine. Each bottle lost subtracts 25gp from the payout.
My grandson went along with a caravan to re-establish contact with Nitevale, but they haven't come back or sent word. His name is Dennis. He's a good kid and he's got a tough outter shell like his grandpa, but I still worry. Please bring him back or at least find him and let him know to write home sometime!
50gp for an old hardshell's peace of mind. DM Note: If asked, Lukewill will give Dennis' height (5'-3"), his complection (a bit paler than you'd expect), his hair color (bald- runs in the family) and eye color (black), and if pushed, his age (35). Unless specifically asked, he will fail to mention that Dennis Duvamil is a human man. Lukewill is a tortle. Dennis' father was adopted.
- Blue Sky - Easier jobs for beginner adventurers or those who just need to make a quick buck. Mostly low level monster hunting and parts collection. (Tier 1 or CR 0-5) CRx40 base gold
- Gray Sky - Intermediate bounties. Bigger monsters and criminals wanted, dead or alive, who are too dangerous for regular guards or soldiers to capture. (Tier 2 or CR 6-10) CRx50 base gold
- Red Sky - Advanced targets. For boss monsters or threats to the realm that are wanted dead because they're to dangerous to be kept in live custody. (Tier 3 or CR 11-15) CRx60 base gold
- Black Sky - These bounties are mostly just warnings for adventurers to avoid. They have the biggest payouts, but pose the greatest danger the land has to offer. (Tier 4 or CR 16 and above) CRx80 base gold
