Fungal Epidemic on the Island of Kurnst - Booty
During the cool fall months of 147 AFD, reports of a strange outbreak on the island of Kurnst began rolling into the offices of the city guard at Raiford"s Keep. Lieutenant Lucius of the guard began gathering intelligence concerning the plague which revealed infected subjects were suffering from a sort of fungal disease commonly referred to as Arnon's Madness - Disease. Reports of infected individuals rang in from nearby townships and was apparently spreading across the country side at an alarming rate. Entire towns were said to have fallen ill as these erratic and aggressive infected individuals attacked and infected every living creature in sight, overrunning the most well defended citadels.
Eventually the plague was so wide spread that infected humans, monsters, and even a few hill giants began attacking the walls of Raiford's Keep. A small group of heroes named Arnon's Bane were able to clear out the infected creatures that surronded the capital city and provided much needed intelligence to the town guard and the leader of the Peleon Order, Master Benobi or "Benjamin the Wanderer". Benobi provided the heroes with additional resources and information and worked hand in hand with the adventurers until they were eventually able to return with the necessary supplies to assemble a cure. A bronze staff infused with a Hag's Heartstone was erected in the downtown square of Raiford's Keep where it could be easily accessable to the infected townsfolk. Anyone that was infected with the fungal infection could touch the staff and be immediately healed of their ailment. Sadly, the disease was so prevalent that eventually the staff melted as a result of the constant heat emitting from it, due to the staff acting as a magical conduit. Who ever hadn't touched the staff prior to its destruction was sequestered from the rest of the town and eventually terminated for the greater good.
The hero group Arnon's Bane eventually left Raiford's Keep in search of more information on the mainland but they never reached Trade City. Reports of recovered wreckage of their ship Gruton's "Bete Noire" indicated that Arnon's Bane was most likely lost at sea. As of yet, no sign of their survival exists and they are presumed deceased.
