Episode 1 - You're So Scared!

The men sit calmly around the fire as they day dream about their futures, far away from farming. While they drift in and out of reality, the fire suddenly dies and then reignites. The party then hears the soft familiar voice of Darla, the social pariah, who appears behind the Halflings. The party continues discussing the recent Kobold raids while Davwyn suddenly becomes inebriated, feeling emboldened to woo Darla, much to her chagrin. Having their fill for the night, the party carries Davwyn home on Chief’s goat “Cortana.” As the farmers walk back to their residences, they hear the faint sound of flatulence in the distance, not knowing that Darla had accidentally cursed herself with the odor of a skunk after being attacked by a bat. The next morning Beldhir and Chief see a shadowy figure rapidly approaching Davwyn’s house through the mists. They rush to his aid only to find an extremely upset Darla marching through the fields with ironically frigid footsteps. As she stops in front of Davwyn’s house, her anger and frustration turns into deep red flames engulfing her hands, melting the previously frozen footsteps. She then releases her anger and fiery grip into the ground, charring the earth around her.
Through Chief’s guidance, the group agrees to search for the Kobolds in the nearby caves. As they walk into the inky dark forest that Darla resides in, the party feels the eerie sense that they are being watched. Beldhir, in an attempt to remove any form of concealment for enemies, creates an overwhelming gust of wind that strips the trees and bushes of flora. Davwyn then attempts to locate any possible threats in the tree line at which time he unwittingly locates a rusty metal claw and a pair of glowing yellow eyes. The scarecrow’s gruesome features and horrid screams chill the party to the bone but they are mostly unphased as they slice and burn the scarecrow into little pieces, finally drowned by Davwyn’s homunculus beer stein “nettle.” Davwyn locates a small flesh like parcel of treasure attached to the inside of the scarecrows rib cage.
The party then refocuses on the Kobold cave after being reminded by the distant bleating of Cortana, who gingerly grazes on the side of the rock face. In an attempt to light their path, Davwyn casts several balls of light into the cave, illuminating the stalagmites and larger chamber within. Darla also hurls her fiery sword inside the cave further illuminating the structures within. Without blinking, Davwyn rushes inside to rescue the fair maiden’s weapon, exposing his back to several Kobolds. After dodging several wildly shot arrows, Davwyn calls for the party who bravely comes to his rescue. The party swiftly deals with the cave dwelling looters, even allowing Darla’s fiery familiar to viciously execute one of the Kobolds by exploding its victim’s head. While searching the caves for signs of further life or possible valuables, Beldhir locates several cave paintings and Chief uncovers a small skull that carries a large amount of valuables as well as a finely crafted hand axe. Suddenly the party sees that the cave comes alive, bursting with wild flowers and vines from Darla's magical touch. Soon after, the party settles down for the night inside the cave for some much needed rest. They awake the next morning with a sense of relief knowing they had rid their village of such a pestilence, proud that they proven their mettle. Who knows what stories the new day will bring …
