Balador's Cudgel

This item is small wooden honey dipper which hangs on a golden chain necklace. A player may use an action to grasp the small wooden honey dipper and transform the item into a large wooden two handed mace, still in the shape of a honey dipper. This item can be returned to its original size by using an action to reduce the weapon back into a necklace. The honey dipper is made out of ancient white oak wood and is engraved with images of ancient runes, honey bees, honey comb, and beehives.
The weapon offers the player the bonus of a +2 focus, a +2 bonus to attack, +2 to damage, and offers extra magical effects. The weapon can be used with the players spell casting modifier to hit and damage, instead of strength. The item possesses two charges of the spell "slow" which can be cast on a single enemy that is physically struck by the weapon. The enemy must succeed on a constitution saving throw against the player's spell save DC or be encased in honey. The weapon has two charges which are returned after a long rest.
The player may also elect to spend an action to turn into a chrysalis. In this state the player retains an AC of 24 for two full turns. At the end of their second turn the player emerges from this pod with half health and normal stats. If the player is knocked down to 0 health points while in the chrysalis, the player retains their AC of 24 and can be affected by other players healing spells or effects like "lay on hands." If knocked to 0 health points in the pod and they receive medical aid from party members, the player exits the chrysalis pod with whatever health points were awarded to them by the other players, without gaining half their health back. This spell can be used once and returns after a long rest.
Proficiency with a Warhammer allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
