Armageddon

Armageddon, an Imperial Hive World and Industrial World, lies 10,000 light years northeast of Terra in the Segmentum Solar. Throughout its history, it has been the stage for some of the Imperium's most significant conflicts, including the First War for Armageddon against Chaos, the Second Ork War, and the ongoing Third Ork War led by the formidable Warlord Ghazghkull Thraka.

As the fourth planet in its star system, Armageddon serves as the industrial heart of both the Armageddon Sub-sector and the broader Armageddon Sector. Its vast industrial output sustains countless worlds within a several light-year radius, making it an indispensable hub of commerce and production.

However, centuries of relentless industrial activity have taken a toll on Armageddon's surface, transforming much of it into desolate wastelands and polluted oceans. Human habitation is confined to the towering hive cities, colossal arcology-like structures that pierce the sky for kilometers. Within these hive cities and Imperial military facilities, humans cling to existence within artificial environments.

Basic necessities such as food, clean air, and water must be imported from off-planet, rendering them precious commodities. The inhospitable conditions outside the hive cities necessitate the training of almost all regiments of the Astra Militarum's Armageddon Steel Legion as mechanized infantry, operating from the safety of their vehicles to navigate the treacherous terrain.
