Kryfizoi

It is unknown whether life evolved on Kryfizoi before the arrival of humans, as a colonization license was granted before proper testing had the chance to take place, effectively contaminating the planet. Now, over 700 years after the original colonization efforts took place, no trace of alien life can be found, though it is quite possible it was out-competed for resources by Terran flora and fauna, or that it was devastated by a Terran disease. Or, it may never have existed in the first place. While life may have been present, few scientists think that the planet would have been old enough to be harboring intelligent life. Of course, the vast ocean is largely unexplored and untouched,   Kryfizoi is a small, low-gravity world with a thin atmosphere. The atmosphere is breathable to most humanoids, including humans. Oceans cover roughly 85% of the surface, leaving a relatively low amount of farmland for the world's six million, mostly human, inhabitants. However, the available technology can more than compensate for this, and the world produces a large agricultural surplus. Other secies on the planet are not native, and mesh fluidly with the human population -- for the most part.   The largest continent, named Prochor and located far to the south, is incredibly unstable. Local governments have fallen, and have been replaced by feudal lords. Innovation is key -- if a neighboring lord has superior technology to you, you will undoubtedly fall. Because of this, the economy of this continent focuses on technology, and the lords have successfully commercialized fusion power, as well as terraforming and advanced weapons technology. This continent was the first, and only, to be colonized. All other inhabitants either originally lived her, or are descended from someone who did.   The other seven continents do not lie so far south. They are relatively temperate, and so their economy focuses on the export of agriculture. A surplus of food is quite valuable and easily traded to Prochor, as well as the many nearby worlds that are unable to support their population on their own. Fourteen other states exist on these continents, ranging from bands of outlaws to religious autocracies.   The planet is an important strategic location for the vast, interstellar empire that it is a part of, and the port for starships reflects this. It is a high-quality port, equipped with both civilian docking platforms, as well as two bases for two different branches of the military. The facility is in orbit and is stabilized over the continent of Prochor. There is a small landing pad on the surface where transports to the surface dock. The territory containing this landing pad is hotly debated amongst the feudal lords in the area. The orbital port has a large residential wong, capable of sustaining up to 5,000 guests on top of the regular staff. Basic lodging is included for up to three nights with the berthing cost of 3000 credits, and a longer or higher-quality stay can be purchased quite cheaply. Ship repair is cheap and of quality, and the station even contains a small shipyard. Refined fuel is available for purchase. The native people respect foreigners, often far more than their competitors on the planet.
