Shadow Dent
The Shadow Dent is a dark rift in reality, serving as the home of the shadow elves and the dark queen Viessa. This realm operates under different rules than those of Krotera, existing as a world of shadows, dark magic, and corruption. It was created by Deus Mortem as a gift to the demigoddess Viessa, and it stands as a place where the boundaries of reality twist and warp in ways unimaginable in the outside world.
Geography
The Shadow Dent exists in a separate realm from Krotera, a pocket dimension formed within a tear in reality itself by the chaos god Deus Mortem. Created as a world of twisted reality, it is ruled by the shadow queen Viessa. The landscape consists of forests, mountains, and plains, all shrouded in dark magic and shadows, under the absolute control of Viessa herself.
Ecosystem
The fauna and flora of the Shadow Dent are manifestations of dark magic rather than natural life as seen in Krotera. The land is inhabited by deer, buffalo, wolves, and other creatures, all formed from the essence of dark magic. These beings, along with the twisted plants and landscapes, are entirely soulless, existing as mere shadows of life.
Ecosystem Cycles
The Shadow Dent does not experience seasons like those in Krotera. There is no spring, summer, fall, or winter—only a constant, unchanging state of cold, still weather, and eerie silence. The environment remains the same unless Viessa wills it otherwise.
Localized Phenomena
On very rare occasions, a portal opens between the world of Krotera and the Shadow Dent. This only occurs when someone in Krotera activates a gate using the five Dent Stones. When the portal is initiated, a figure known as the Hingar appears—a corrupted elf, existing as something between the ancient elves and the shadow elves, yet belonging fully to neither. The Hingar will ask, "Have you come to serve the queen or to challenge the shadows?" Only after this question is answered will the gate fully open.
History
A week after the birth of Viessa’s son, a hooded figure entered the cave where Viessa and her followers were building their stronghold. The guards attempted to stop him but were instantly killed by the dark powers wielded by this mysterious intruder. Viessa, sensing the threat, stood up and prepared to fight. But as the figure approached the stone-cut throne where she sat, he halted and removed his hood. As he did, the hood ignited into green flames, disintegrating it completely. Two enormous wings, formed of the same green fire, appeared on his back. His body was encased in dark armor, with two large black horns atop his head, long black hair, and skin as pale as death. His eyes burned with an eerie green light, and he was tall enough to look Viessa directly in the eyes, despite her standing on the elevated steps of her throne.
"I have not come to kill you, Viessa, Queen under the Mountain," the stranger said in a deep, yet calm voice.
"Then why have you come? Just to gaze upon my might?" Viessa hissed, attempting to maintain her air of dominance.
The figure grinned and revealed his identity. "I am Deus Mortem, Viessa. I believe you’ve heard of me."
"Of course, I know who you are, but what do you want from me?" Viessa replied, showing no fear of the chaos god before her.
"I am here to offer you an opportunity," Deus Mortem said, his voice laced with dark intent. "I will give you what you desire most, for a small price."
"And what is this price?" Viessa hissed.
"The price is your son. If you give him to me, I will grant you your deepest wish. I will make you a god. You will be immortal, and you will have your own world where no one can challenge you—not even the gods."
The offer startled Viessa at first, but her ambition quickly overcame her hesitation. She agreed and handed over her son. Deus Mortem took the child carefully, then gave Viessa a ring. "When you put this ring on, Viessa, you will enter a new world—a world where you are the god. You will be invincible there, and none can take your throne, for not even the gods will hold more power than you in this realm."
And so, Viessa received her new domain, a land far darker than the one she left behind. The sky was perpetually black, and none of the celestial realms visible from Krotera could be seen from her new kingdom. At last, she was the queen of an entire world. But it was not enough. Her thirst for revenge remained, and now, as an immortal god, time was on her side. Viessa continues to dream of the day when she will return to conquer the world she left behind.
