Lammetria 250 BR - 265 AR

The Lammetrians were a peace-loving people who sold off their wrathful citizens as mercenaries to countries around their borders and the coast. A defensive heavy civilization, only Morosia was successful in defeating them in their own territory.

History

Lammetria was a vast civilization which occupied the Lammetrian Coast on Barakon (southern continent) as of 250 BR. Their capital city was Lameta and they were ruled by "The Grand Assembly" consisting of the country's most notable characters, rather than being ruled by a single leader. Indeed, many of Lammetria's provinces/regions tended to be quite autonomous at times.   In the early centuries AR, Lammetria colonized a few small regions to the west, notably the colony at Lenvika which would last until 465 AR when the Makan Empire forced their subjugation.   Towards the turn of the eras, a portion of Lammetria's cities broke away under some of the mercenary companies Lammetria had formed. These mercenaries were vengeful against their forced service by their home country. This new break-away state was called Challia, centered on the city of Abria. Here, they worshipped the antagonist god to the Lammetrian Pantheon - Akros the wrathful.   Being pacifist, Lammetria was forced to accept this change and their lost land. Challia would try a number of times to attack Lammetria but would never succeed in gaining any more land or power than they had initially.   This pacifist approach took an abrupt turn in 215, when the Thernan Rebellion broke out in the Morosian Empire who now neighbored Lammetria. Lammetria capitalized on this opportunity of weakness on the Morosian Empire and invaded utilizing some of their mercenary companies. However, Morosia managed to hold their own in both wars, and soon the Lammetrians were pushed back. This invasion gave Morosia the perfect pretense to invade Lammetria right back, in which they did so swiftly.   By 250 AR Morosia had surrounded the capital of Lameta and for 15 long years, the city lay under siege - it was a spectacle to behold. The people of Lammetria were resilient, breaking through both the naval and land blockades time and time again. However, the city finally succumbed in 265 AR, and with it fell Lammetria.   In 788 AR, Morosia lost control of the province, and the homeland of the Lammetrians was free once again. However, the Lammetrian culture was diluted by this point, and the newly formed state was without guidance.
