Paint Thinners

Paint Thinners are made with a combination of water, leaves, and vinegar in order to weaken paint significantly. With shoddy tools, and paint that is difficult to maintain and control, the artist creates many works with a seemingly undesirable effect.   This technique is used by many artists throughout the land. The illustrations, and the stories that they paint across the canvas are those of the follies of mankind. The hubris of the wealthy kings for example is shown. Though the faces and gold hold an impeding sense of dread, as thought there is something not quite right in the art. The smiling faces of the nobility who have had their portraits taken are slightly warped, the skin drooping from the high cheekbones, the symbol of beauty twisted to create an eerie feeling. The amount of this solution depends on the effect that the artist wants on the viewer. The closer to the original meaning, the less is used. This forces the artist to choose the best places within the painting to use this effect. The eyes are a common area, though heirlooms and similar objects are also used for this effect.   Most children's stories are completely illustrated in this way, especially ones where there is a moral lesson to be learned. The heroes of these tales, often antagonistic, are painted with stiff necks, and high shoulders, from which the rest of the body seems to hang. The faces of these characters holds great amounts of opposing traits. The eyes may stand out firmly, while the rest of the face is simply, vaguely, there. The true expressions and feelings experienced through the eyes. Other times, especially among less skilled artists, the face ends up becoming contorted and unnatural, as though many opposing thoughts, feelings, and decisions are twisting the person, left in a state of confusion.
