Lore: Loyalists

In the many years that had followed Lord Gwi-ma’s crowning as ruler of the underworld, many Demons were in fact initially reluctant to acknowledge him as such. In the beginning years that initially started the reign of the new lord, much older and wiser Dokkaebi expressed great concern for the practical implications that such a dominion as Gwi-ma’s would bring to the Underworld. However while many eventually found there to be no choice when his yoke finally came down upon many a neck and with it, the subjugation that followed swiftly afterwards, others had instead gleefully taken up the chance to cozy themselves up to the Great Lord’s side in any way that they could.

Although some Demons appeared to have been fanatically loyal to the Lord, some had only aligned with him for the ideals of shared glory. A motley collection, these followers consisted mostly of a mixture of the weak seeking protection, the ambitious seeking some form of mutually shared glory, and the more thuggish gravitating toward a leader who could show them more refined forms of cruelty far more horrific than what they had already known.

Over time, some of these Demons became so utterly devoted to the one that they soon deemed to be the truest and perhaps only God of the Underworld, that these almost cult-like fanatics eventually began to serve their master’s whims seemingly unflinchingly.

However, after he was defeated in the Idol Awards back in the Summer of 2025, many of his followers, or at least those who followed strictly due to fear, had immediately renounced their loyalty and did not attempt to find him in the intervening years. Those who instead became the most devoted, or proved their loyalty to the highest of degree’s, became so hell-bent on reviving the Great Lord, that they had inserted themselves directly into the narrative through behind-the-scenes scheming.

Eventually, these Loyalists also took their place at the forefront of the War of Succession; a multi faceted conflict for supreme power caused by the growing power-vacuum left behind by Gwi-ma’s defeat and Jinu’s eventual desertion.

Rest assured however, whatever their reasoning's are for involving themselves in war, you best believe them to be deadly foe’s…

Loyalist Trivia

Gold Binds: Gold silver and precious stones; all such things regale the quantity of one's wealth and status deep within the darkness of the Underworld. To be bejeweled is to be royalty, and a touch of Gold, often favored most by the Great Lord, binds all to its sway. However, that might be taken literally for those often loyal to the Great Lord. Golden chains, necklaces, bracelet's, cuff's, it seems as though those who were willing to sell out their fellow Demon, simply traded their steel shackles for Gilded ones. For while one may grow more in social status, at the end of it all, everyone is still chained to Great Lord Gwi-ma all the same.

Hellfather’s Blessing: The sacred violet-colored flames that make up the form of the Great Lord, are seen as divine in the eyes of those who uphold their God. As such, the hellish purplish glow that envelopes the various parts of a Loyalist’s body are seen as blessings to those who have achieved in obtaining them and may appear familiar to those who have come face to face with the Great Lord himself. God’s Flame, Father’s Blessing, the name by which these purple wisps are known by means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Especially when one is under the influence of the violet-hue haze. Only one thing is for certain however. And that is, much like the old lord, the more energy one consumes, the more powerful and effective their hellfire becomes, but also the more frenzied, erratic and desperate they are to become as well.
