Lore: Gold and Bastards Gold
What is an object that most people in your world would give almost anything to have?
Gold silver and precious stones; all such things regale the quantity of one's wealth and status deep within the darkness of the Underworld.
To be bejeweled is to be royalty, and a touch of Gold, often most favored most by the Great Lord, binds all to its sway. However, that might be taken literally for those often loyal to the Great Lord. Golden chains, necklaces, bracelet's, cuff's, it seems as though those who were willing to sell out their fellow Demon, simply traded their steel shackles for Gilded ones. For while one may grow more in social status, at the end of it all, everyone is still chained to Great Lord Gwi-ma all the same.
But all that Glitters in the Great Lords Kingdom is not always gold. Bastards Gold, is what Demons in the Underworld typically refer to as Fools or False gold. In most definitions, the term "Bastard" is often used as a descriptor for something regarded as inferior, irregular, or counterfeit. Due to the nature of Pure-Gold mainly being a precious metal reserved only for the wealthy or those of high status, those in possession of false gold are often ridiculed as "False Kings"; those who have no other way of obtaining a 'status' except by masquerading as one of the higher order.
However in the Gladiatorial Ring, the presence of Bastard's Gold, is often one not given to the wearer by choice.
Abby's teeth for example, in his "blessed form" are not real gold, nor are they yellow as the result of self-neglect. Instead, Abby's teeth, mainly his tusk and fangs, are actually capped in Bastards Gold. In Abby's case however, his tusks and fangs being capped in Bastards Gold, was not HIS decision, and was actually Cheondung's idea of a sick joke; a False Crown for a False King, due to Abby's surprising success in the ring of Cheon's Coliseum, rendering him much to Abby's horror as a "Crowd Favorite".
Instead of his "Crown of Horns", however being covered, Cheon's idea was to instead cover Abby's tusks, as a way for the crowds to retain focus on the one thing that deep down Abby could not stand to look at anymore due to all the pain he had inflicted on others with them. In addition to his golden tusks, Abby was also once fitted with Golden cuffs and a Golden Collar. However, despite appearances, they were once again made of false gold, and were also ill-fitted, resulting in scarring on his wrists and ankles and a small bald-spot right below his jaw-line.
Because of the presence of this "gold", many spectators in the Ring regarded Abby as something similar to Royalty. However, much like with Gladiators in ancient Rome, regardless if the gold was real or not, Abby still occupied a major paradoxical position in the Rings society, holding the lowest legal status with no clear freedom, while also simultaneously being paraded around like a celebrity, despite him not being able to enjoy the fame that ultimately came with his success.
