Ikadda

The Father Below, Ikadda

The slender tiefling tomb raider slipped the priceless gem into his pocket, before raising his crowbar to start prying another from the jewel-encrusted sarcophagus he sat atop. He ignored the creaking and the groaning of the earth around him, instead opting to continue pulling the chunks of precious minerals from the tomb's relics and put them in his bag of holding. For the first time, the erstwhile grave robber's eyes landed upon an intricate bundle of runes- or were they hieroglyphs?- carved into the wall. The text, though unreadable, pulled to mind the story that the old woman sitting next to him at a tavern bar had said, only hours ago. Something about the writing on the walls- about the voice of a man, or a father. He wasn't sure- his Elven was garbage, anyways. The writing seemed archaic, even for Elven script- maybe Sylvan, then, or something older. The tiefling was so preoccupied on the writing that he didn't notice as an earthen fist pulled free from the wall and smashed him flat against it, killing him rapidly and pulling him into a pulp against the stone. Miles away, sitting at the bar of a tavern, an old woman clenched her fist slightly, and chuckled under her breath, offering a brief prayer to the father below.
All living things must die- even gods, and even things that are mere concepts. Cities, civilizations, laws, and even knowledge will all meet the hand of Ikadda. He doesn't seek to cause pain, but he is not benevolent or caring towards his charges, either. His grave soil-stained fingers drag everything down into the earth, one day, but gods save those that his inexorable mind chooses to bury before their time has come.

Divine Domains

Ikanda is a deity of death and of secrets. He is venerated by those who seek to find secrets, asking him to release the secrets, as well as those seeking protection during excavation or exploration underground. Concerned with the burying of life, many a insane cultist offers reverence to Ikadda if not maniacal worship, as Ikadda seeks to carpet all in soil and often the undifferentiated destruction of those violent and unstable magic-users align with his views. There is a splinter of druids who praise Ikadda- while they don't wish to bury all life, they support Ikadda's desire to completely destroy civilized nations and people and often seek to use the earth to destroy small towns or to bury livelihoods of farmers, ranchers, and others who use the land for their own purposes- whether buried dead or alive, Ikaddans rarely care.
Clerics of Ikadda may select from the domains of Law, Evil, Earth, Knowledge, and Death; as well as the Murder, Fear, Petrification, Judgment, and Memory subdomains, if they so choose.

Holy Books & Codes

Ikadda is far too cryptic to leave any complete texts for his followers, but information describing his desires can be found in scattered tombs and lost ruins, constructing plans and setting things in movement for his own bizarre goals. His followers- and those he drive to fear him- often will find scraps of knowledge buried in ancient tomes found deep in secret libraries, fragmented texts that seek to drive their readers mad. No one text contains a collection of his missives, however.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Ikadda's symbol is a hand reaching up from the earth. His favored weapon is the heavy pick- a tool of miners often found in his domain- and he is associated with burrowing mammals such as moles or gophers.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

No one knows really what Ikadda wishes to do, but his actions and goals are visible to many. He often asks his followers to work in destroying cities and towns, in such a way that they may be able to bury information under the earth. Ikadda often comes to assist those who work in secrecy, as well, benefiting with espionage and other destruction of information.

History

Ikadda is, like many other of Korthos' deities of earth and of nature, a child of Hasuba. He preaches a staunch apathy towards her and her church, but she drives her followers to forgive and to attempt to redeem the worshippers of Ikadda. Since his divine conception, Ikadda had always been obsessed with the forces outside of Korthos' planar system, and his corruption at their hands led to his being cast out by his mother, even as she preached his forgiveness.

Commonalities & Shared Interests

Hasuba and her son, although often diametrically opposed, share a reverence for the soil and the earth of Korthos.

Shared Acquaintances

Ikadda has no connection with any of his siblings, generally- he rarely attempts to engage with them or their followers unless attacked first.

For Players
Ikadda is a Lawful Evil deity of the earth, secrets, and decay. He's often worshiped by slightly unhinged officials who seek to control knowledge, seedy booksellers (or book collectors), and even the most decadent of socialites who have grown obsessed with holding onto secrets. This is to say that his worship isn't solely restricted to crazed cultists- Ikadda and his worshipers take vows and secrets very seriously, and often are very polite and uptight. His clerics can take advantage of typical clerical domains such as Law or Death and use the powers that come with such domains to destroy their enemies, or play a less traditional role by focusing on uncovering knowledge or seeking sites of archaeological importance with the granted powers of the Earth or Knowledge domains. Druids often follow Ikadda and serve the earth and the soil, and a powerful kineticist or wizard with the Earth elemental school could bend the very ground to their will in service of Ikadda.

Boons

Evangelist Boons

1: Earthen Grasp (Sp) expeditious excavation 3/day, binding earth 3/day, or meld into stone 1/day.
2: Swallowing Soil (Sp) Once per day, you may cast transmute rock to mud with a caster level equal to your character level and a DC equal to 10+1/2 your HD+your Constitution modifier rather than the regular DC. This spell functions as normal, except as a standard action you may revert the mud to stone, forcing all creatures in the mud to make a reflex save with the same DC or be trapped in rock, being pinned and risking suffocation if fully immersed. Creatures that succeed the saving throw still take 5d6 slashing damage as the rock cuts at them as they try to escape. 3: Rune of Burial (Sp) Once per day, you may inscribe a magical rune in the air in front of you as a standard action. This affects one living creature of your choice that can see the rune as if power word kill except the killed creature is swallowed up by the earth and their body is destroyed, meaning they can only be brought back to life by spells such as true resurrection that don't require any body of the deceased creature to be present.
