Hiekkamaa
Hiekamaa has three vital cities and communities, each of which the harsh desert would be inhabitable without;
- Harrah rests on the northern coast of the desert wasteland, home to port 'Harrah', named after the city that it's vitally connected to. Harrah is responsible and relies heavily upon the trade opportunities that their port affords and is often referred to as the second capital of Hiekkamaa. Many claim that Harrah rivals Quarth for it’s wealth and prosperity, many of it’s citizens deeming it more important, but more disagree, seeing as the population of Harrah is around fifty thousand, and the population of Quarth is around one million.
- Akish is a prosperous city with fertile soil surrounding it to the west along the coast from Harrah, a winding river stretching from the coast that ends in a small oasis, named ‘The Mother’s Rest’, the oasis preserved and the animals residing near it sanctioned and protected, the oasis itself stretching around half of the city, covering one side of the city with lush plants, beautiful flowers, small waterfalls and winding rivers that lead to a large pond. Many come to see this oasis and it is part of why Akish is so famous, often referred to as the ‘Desert’s Jewel’ for the oasis’ rarity and beauty. Akish itself is a city built to match the oasis’ beauty. Marble walls and houses are raised high over the desert sand and many see this city as an opportunity to relax and enjoy the serenity of the large and beautiful oasis, making Akish a desirable travel destination. It is often said that to find Akish, one need only follow the fertile fields.
- Quarth, south of both Akish and Harrah, is the largest and busiest city in all of Hiekkamaa. It stretches for miles and is the most populated place in Hiekkamaa, many of great wealth and status claiming this city as their home, the beating heart of the desert wasteland. Quarth is famous for their fabrics, expensive silks and clothes produced here. Silt Striders are sold and bred outside the expansive walls of Quarth and could almost be called a second city, cattle often kept outside those walls as well, including Silk Sheep, a low maintenance carnivorous yet docile creature that grows a thin but strong coat of silky hair that grows at a rapid rate, the fine material breezy and light, making for perfect protection from the unyielding sun and extreme heat of the desert.
Religion
The Divines. The divines are well known throughout the world of Kopesh, standing as the main religion across all eight continents. The Mother stands for nobility and patience, she protects the children and their mothers and any who pray for her, she’s the Goddess of motherly love and a mother’s care for her child. The Priest stands for salvation and sanctuary, many who follow him practice his teachings of charity and holiness. The Twins are not one but two, both significant in their own right but not individual when apart, they’re each a side on the same coin. The female of the twins is called ‘Ferrn’ by many, she stands for fertility, battle and war, and love. Her twin brother is called ‘Fen’ and he stands for the hunt, crops and luck, hunting praying to him, asking for their hunt to be successful, farmers pray for their fields to grow healthy and strong, and the unfortunate pray for a bit of luck in their life, for their luck to change and for the sun to shine on them in their endeavors or just life in general.
